Once Upon a Time in Placerville No. 20: Snows Road and Old Homes

Good morning. Tina here, with another Once Upon a Time. We are not far from the home I showed you last week. These photos are from Snows Road, which runs between Camino (Carson Road) and Newtown Road.

Once there was extensive Hydraulic Mining in the area, and you can still see high bluffs left from the destructive practice. There is a quarry on Snows Road which is purported to still have lots of gold abounding within its soil.

Above is an old postcard of the Snow Brothers hydraulic mining operation.

The Snows had an old home which was torn down long ago. The pictures below and the explanations come from the book "I Remember" by Betty Yohalem.

The home above stood basically where the gate to the Puerto del Sol housing development stands.

That is it for now, I hope you enjoy getting a look at old homes we have lost over the years.

Oh, I definitely DO enjoy seeing the old homes!
I hate that they're gone, but it's neat that you have found the old pictures, especially to have them here for those people who actually still remember some of them!
