Sly Park Recreation Area - Jenkinson Lake - Drought Views from 1976-77

Our lake in Pollock Pines, shown below full to the brim in a normal winter, is hurting this summer due to the drought. Recently visitors have been sharing their photos from the drought years of 1976 and 1977 so we can see what we might be looking forward to this summer.

I remember walking with a friend to the "islands" in the summer of 1976.
The photos below are all from 1976, except the last one, which is 1977.
 Going, going, gone.
This was drinking water for the county. Very sad.
Above you can see the dam, not holding back any water.
Below is a shot of the islands.
The photo below shows the dam in winter of 1977.
I sincerely hope that it does not get this low again.
Thank you to the facebook members who shared their vintage photographs.

Oh, the top photo is so pretty!
I am hoping for a year when we will view that beautiful scene again, instead of what we've got now.
This drought certainly is a sad state of affairs.
